Bombs inside WTC?

CAUTION: CONTAINS DISTURBING IMAGES

[captain wardrobe] - my source has 15 years as a firefighter- & Experience of attending suicides from UK level high bridges & buidlings -

each of the towers in the WTC has 110 floors - this is what the view was like...

we have discussed this photo - taken from this source - http://media.maineindymedia.org

she feels that this jumper was from a relatively low floor in the WTC like floor 10! While in her experience, she has not witnessed the remains of people who jumped from extremely high floors, her gut reaction to the photo above was, as she has explained to me, that there would be hardly any identifiable remains of a jumper from a higher floor...of course this is just her opinion...

as you an see the entire top half of this poor victims torso is still intact...

There is also possibility that something very heavy, like a girder fell on this victim after they had jumped...as the towers collapse down on the remains of the victims...

If my initial assumptions are correct: that this is a photo of the remains of a WTC jumper....

why would a person jump from a lower floor?

unless something really disturbing happened lower down

what would make a person jump from a lower floor, when others were escaping from the building?

These photos apparently show remains of those who unfortunately didn't make it... just how many fires were raging inside the WTC???

which areas of the WTC towers were these people trying to escape from? How were these bodies recovered...?

were their fire exits blocked?

were there explosions lower down that caused fires?

"There is some speculation that a bomb may have been detonated just prior to the first plane crash. A friend of my other brother-in-law exited the tower just after the first hit, and noticed many dead bodies strewn about the lobby. I don't wish to start rumors, but its a little odd for bodies to be inside the lobby." - Rumour?

"The flashlight led us into Borders bookstore, up an escalator and out to Church Street. There were explosions going off everywhere. I was convinced that there were bombs planted all over the place and someone was sitting at a control panel pushing detonator buttons. I was afraid to go down Church Street toward Broadway, but I had to do it. I ended up on Vesey Street. There was another explosion. And another. I didn't know where to run." - Teresa Veliz

"...I met Auxiliary Lieutenant Fireman and former Auxiliary Police Officer, Paul Isaac Jr. at the World Trade Center Memorial. Paul, along with many other firemen, is very upset about the obvious cover-up and he is on a crusade for answers and justice.

He was stationed at Engine 10, across the street from the World Trade Center in 1998 and 99; Engine 10 was entirely wiped out in the destruction of the towers. He explained to me that, many other firemen know there were bombs in the buildings, but they're afraid for their jobs to admit it because the higher-ups forbid discussion of this fact.

Paul further elaborated that former CIA director Robert Woolsey, as the Fire Department's Anti-terrorism Consultant, is sending a gag order down the ranks. There were definitely bombs in those buildings,he told me..."Rumour?

"We were the first ones in the second tower after the plane struck. I was taking firefighters up in the elevator to the 24th floor to get in position to evacuate workers.

On the last trip up a BOMB went off. WE THINK THERE WAS BOMBS SET IN THE BUILDING. I had just asked another firefighter to stay with me, which was a good thing because we were trapped inside the elevator and he had the tools to get out.

There were probably 500 people trapped in the stairwell. It was mass chaos. The power went out. It was dark. Everybody was screaming. We had oxygen masks and we were giving people oxygen. Some of us made it out and some of us didn't. I know of at least 30 firefighters who are still missing. This is my 20th year. I am seriously considering retiring. This might have done it." - Rumour?

Mike Pecoraro
As they ascended to the B Level, one floor above, they were astonished to see a steel and concrete fire door that weighed about 300 pounds, wrinkled up "like a piece of aluminum foil" and lying on the floor.

"They got us again," Mike told his co-worker, referring to the terrorist attack at the center in 1993.

Having been through that bombing, Mike recalled seeing similar things happen to the building's structure. He was convinced a bomb had gone off in the building. Mike walked through the open doorway and found two people lying on the floor. One was a female Carpenter and the other an Elevator Operator. They were both badly burned and injured. Realizing he had to get help, Mike ascended to the Lobby Level where he met Arti DelBianco, a member of his work crew. People were now coming down the same stairway from above the lobby and Arti and Mike had to stay where they were to direct people out of the stairway door and into the building's lobby. If they didn't, people descending could walk past the lobby door and unwittingly keep descending into the sublevels of the building. - full story from 'The Chief Engineer' magazine

Eye cop in pipe-bombing Tied to blast in subway

A cop who is being forced to retire over a 9/11-related mental breakdown was brought in for questioning last night in Monday's pipe-bomb explosion in the Times Square subway station, sources said.

The transit cop, who suffered minor burns when the crude device explode, arrived at the Midtown South Precinct stationhouse with a lawyer. The attorney told cops his 27-year-old client was in no condition for questioning, sources said.

But the cop, who was said to have helped save people on 9/11, denied any involvement in the subway-station miniblast - which spurred new terror fears and a huge police response, the sources said.

Still, detectives sent his burned clothes for forensics tests, sources said, and quizzed neighbors in his SoHo apartment building.

A bomb-sniffing dog was brought to the cop's car, and appeared to get three "hits," sources said. Investigators were waiting for a warrant this morning to get inside the vehicle.

"There is no smoking gun that he did this, but he does have a history of psychiatric problems," a top police official said. - more at the New york daily

Exclusive: 911 Tapes Tell Horror Of 9/11 (Part 2)

Tapes Released For First Time

UPDATED: 5:48 pm EDT June 17, 2002 JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- They are the first 911 calls from 9/11 to be released. NewsChannel 4 has an exclusive account of the tapes from Jersey City, which sent hundreds of cops and firefighters into the thick of ground zero.

The tapes show the raw words spoken and recorded that tragic day. A plane had just hit the north tower and many thought it might be an accident, but not one cop.

Officer: A terrorist smashed into the twin towers. I'm down at Exchange Place. Cleared off Exchange Place at this point, this looks like some type of terrorism.

From across the river, the view seemed clear. A sense of foreboding extended even to Lady Liberty.

Official: Might want to clear the Statue of Liberty.

It was not so far-fetched, considering the news from the Pentagon.

Official: Was another building hit in Washington, we just wanna confirm that?
Dispatcher: There are reports on CNN, there's apparently some kind of fire in the Pentagon, nothing confirmed yet, they're still checking it.

After both towers had been hit, the scrambling of Air Force jets was at first more unnerving than reassuring.

Dispatcher: Go ahead.
Official: Hold on, jets flying over here. Can you check with the controller there, we don't know if this is another one.
Official: It's getting pretty close, it looks like some type of jet plane.
Dispatcher: The news is reporting that it's jet fighters.

At one point, a cop called into a 911 center to talk with a friend, perhaps even his wife.

Officer: It's a terrorist.
Dispatcher: Once they find out who did this, that'll be the end of that country. That'll be the end of their country.

Many though were looking closer to home, wondering if the terror was over, and pointing fingers.

Dispatcher: Jersey City police.
Caller: Yes, we have a white van, 2 or 3 guys in there, they look like Palestinians and going around a building.
Caller: There's a minivan heading toward the Holland tunnel, I see the guy by Newark Airport mixing some junk and he has those sheikh uniform. Dispatcher: He has what?
Caller: He's dressed like an Arab.

The biggest tragedy for Jersey City heroes came in its fire department that day, not for the rescue one guys who went in for search and rescue, but for a civilian who worked out of a dispatch center. Joseph Lovero was a trained EMT who volunteered to ride into New York with the Battalion 3 chief while the towers were still standing.

Official: Battalion 3 to dispatch, we've just had another explosion.
Official: Battalion 3 to dispatch, we've had additional explosion.
Dispatcher: Received battalion command. Additional explosion.

A handful of Jersey City firemen, with a civilian dispatcher, managed to survive, grouping near the still-standing north tower.

Official: Deputy one from Battalion 3, that's affirmative. I have all JCFD personnel on location.
Dispatcher: Received.
Dispatcher: Battalion 5, be advised we're trying to contact Battalion 3 at this moment to report north tower just collapsed.
Dispatcher: Dispatch. Battalion 3.
Official: Battalion 3. I am, I am Greg. North tower has collapsed.
Dispatcher: Battalion 3, all members accounted for?

All, but for Joseph Lovero, his body was found near that of his chief.

AJ: So it was all run basically as an intelligence operation.

MT: That's right

AJ: Now we know that by day two, they arrested anybody with cameras. They said no over-flights, no cameras. Why would say that? What did you see happening?

MT: One of the reasons that I can tell you – and I'm sure this is why they took the cameras away. First of all they didn't take cameras away from everybody. They took them away from people they couldn't control.

AJ: Yeah, FEMA was allowed to have cameras.

MT: FEMA was allowed to have cameras. The police, the Port Authority, certain people who I was attached with were allowed to have cameras. And I had a camera also. After my second full day there, I just decided that it was stupid to pull that camera out unless I saw something that absolutely that could not be passed up. Mostly what you saw was evidence of an implosion. Mostly what you saw was that there are cameras everywhere and it's more of what they say they couldn't catch on camera had to be caught on camera if it was on. And I had no reason to believe that those cameras were not working before or on that day. I know for a fact, I believe you saw my certificate there. They are from FEMA, several of them. I am a FEMA trained person and FEMA certified. That means that if there's a situation in my area, even sick and laying down, semi-retired or whatever I'm doing. If I have the most experience, I am the OIC officer in charge, until someone can relieve me, who has more training. That's the law. There is a secret government. I'm sorry, it's not a secret anymore. But it is a government that is set-up and there is a fear-based, martial law solution and that's what it's all about. It's all about fear.

pancake theory = Psyops?

Apparantly:

the building was not able to withstand the intense heat of the jet fuel fire. While it was impossible for the fuel-rich, diffuse-flame fire to burn at a temperature high enough to melt the steel, its quick ignition and intense heat caused the steel to lose at least half its strength and to deform, causing buckling or crippling. This weakening and deformation caused a few floors to fall, while the weight of the stories above them crushed the floors below, initiating a domino collapse. source

Since the twin towers fell, questions have reverberated among families of victims and some fire-safety experts about whether insufficient fireproofing or an unusual weakness in the innovative, lightweight floors played a critical role in the collapse.

Instead, the investigators tentatively conclude in nearly 500 pages of documents released Tuesday, the twin towers failed because the structural columns at the buildings' core, damaged by the impact of the airliners, buckled and shortened as the fires burned, gradually shifting more load to the tower's trademark exterior pinstripe columns. The exterior columns ultimately suffered such extraordinary stress and heat that they gave way.

The investigation - based on an analysis of thousands of photographs and videos, an examination of nearly every element used to construct the towers and meticulous computer-enhanced modeling of the plane impacts and spreading fires - is not yet complete. A final report by the National Institute of Standards and Technology is not scheduled to be issued until December or perhaps January.

In interviews Tuesday, the lead investigator, as well as other engineers who have studied the collapse, said the evidence increasingly suggested that the giant structures - given the extreme conditions, including temperatures that reached more than 1,000 degrees - performed relatively well on Sept. 11, 2001. Study Suggests Design Flaws Didn't Doom Towers

"The seismic record [above] from Columbia University's observatory in Palisades, NY (21 miles away) provides indisputable proof that massive explosions brought down those towers. At the precise moment the South Tower began collapsing, a 2.1 earthquake registered on the seismograph. At the precise moment the North Tower began collapsing, a 2.3 earthquake registered; however, as the buildings started to crumble these waves disappeared. The two spikes on the seismograph, which both occurred at the exact instants the collapses began, are twenty times the amplitude, or more than 100 times the force of the other waves. If the buildings had simply collapsed, the largest jolts would have occurred when the massive debris struck the earth, not at the beginnings of the collapses" - Rumour?

Controlled demolition?

Built in 1932 of heavy beams and beefed-up steel columns, the Biltmore Hotel stood in the way of a $39-million urban renewal plan to construct a cultural and recreational complex. Some structures on the site have been removed while others await demolition.

But none presented the problems that the Biltmore did. "It s the heaviest steel weve ever worked on," says Mark Loizeaux, of Controlled Demolition, Inc. (CDI), Towson, Md., which dropped the brick-clad structure for contractor Wells Excavating Co., Inc., Oklahoma City.

"Because of the thickness of the steel, a single charge wouldn't penetrate completely through," he says. We had to attack a single 3-in.-thick stem plate from both sides." Each 16-in. steel column with built-up flanges totals 2.5 to 3 tons per floor.

To blast in this fashion, says Loizeaux, it is imperative that the charges on opposing sides go off simultaneously. If one goes off too soon, it will dislodge the other before it can cut through the steel.

CDI placed 991 separate charges, about 800 lbs. of explosives in all, on seven floors from the basement to the 14th floor and detonated them over a five-second interval. CDIs detonation sequence aimed to drop the building in a southerly direction in what is called a controlled progressive collapse in order to lay out the demolished structure to ease removal of debris.

Besides concern over the size of the steel frame members, CDI took a hard look at the type of steel, which Loizeaux describes as malleable. He says such steel doesn't break readily and "can get real testy." But the building fell, as planned, and CDI walked away with its share of the $207,000 demolition general contract. - Controlled demolition

Owner of WTC7 ordered it be 'PULLED'

"I remember getting a call from the, er, fire department commander, telling me that they were not sure they were gonna be able to contain the fire, and I said, "We've had such terrible loss of life, maybe the smartest thing to do is pull it. And they made that decision to pull and we watched the building collapse." - MP3 of Larry Silverstein

Building 7 was the third skyscraper to collapse into rubble on September 11, 2001. According to the government, small fires leveled this building, but fires have never before or since destroyed a steel skyscraper.

The team who investigated the collapse were not allowed access to the crime scene. By the time they published their inconclusive report, the evidence had been destroyed.

Why did the government rapidly recycle the steel from the largest and most mysterious engineering failure in world history, and why has the media remained silent? WTC7.net

WTC 7 'Pulled' By Silverstein, FDNY - Were Towers 'Pulled' Too?

PBS - America rebuilds

Indeed, the present state of America is truly alarming to every man who is capable of reflection. Consider: between 11:30 and 2:30 PM on September 11th (hours after the twin towers had collapsed), according to this National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Report on the curious collapse of WTC 7, fires "broke" out on the following floors: 6,7,8,10,11,12, 19,20,21--and "multiple fires observed on floors numbered 20s and 30s." Gee, who knew modern architecture was so inflammable, so prone to spontaneous combustion? Curiously, none of the other tall buildings much closer to the fa lling towers combusted in any similar, mysterious manner--but then they weren't "Command Centers," apparently ordered destroyed.

Big Questions:

You have fires in a building that was in close proximity to the two towers...
Silverstein orders the building to be pulled
How do you set these charges?

read that quote again [taken from above] :

CDI placed 991 separate charges, about 800 lbs. of explosives in all, on seven floors from the basement to the 14th floor and detonated them over a five-second interval. CDI's detonation sequence aimed to drop the building in a southerly direction in what is called a controlled progressive collapse in order to lay out the demolished structure to ease removal of debris.

Would you order to send people into a building to set explosive charges that was :

A: Already on-fire
B: next to 2 much bigger buildings that have co-incidently already collapsed perfectly er...because of
... FIRE melting the steel structure.

"The fire is the most misunderstood part of the WTC collapse. Even today, the media report (and many scientists believe) that the steel melted. It is argued that the jet fuel burns very hot, especially with so much fuel present. This is not true. " -

Heightened Security Alert Had Just Been Lifted

Sept 12th 2001-

The World Trade Center was destroyed just days after a heightened security alert was lifted at the landmark 110-story towers, security personnel said yesterday.

Daria Coard, 37, a guard at Tower One, said the security detail had been working 12-hour shifts for the past two weeks because of numerous phone threats. But on Thursday, bomb-sniffing dogs were abruptly removed.

"Today was the first day there was not the extra security," Coard said.

"We were protecting below. We had the ground covered. We didn't figure they would do it with planes. There is no way anyone could have stopped that." - NYNewsday

ANOTHER IGNORED 9/11 CLUE Jon Rappaport

Did fire really melt the steel?

From: Kevin R Ryan/SBN/ULI
To: frank.gayle@nist.gov
Date: 11/11/2004

Dr. Gayle, Having recently reviewed your team's report of 10/19/04, I felt the need to contact you directly.

As I'm sure you know, the company I work for certified the steel components used in the construction of the WTC buildings. In requesting information from both our CEO and Fire Protection business manager last year, I learned that they did not agree on the essential aspects of the story, except for one thing - that the samples we certified met all requirements. They suggested we all be patient and understand that UL was working with your team, and that tests would continue through this year. I'm aware of UL's attempts to help, including performing tests on models of the floor assemblies. But the results of these tests appear to indicate that the buildings should have easily withstood the thermal stress caused by pools of burning jet fuel.

There continues to be a number of "experts" making public claims about how the WTC buildings fell. One such person, Dr. Hyman Brown from the WTC construction crew, claims that the buildings collapsed due to fires at 2000F melting the steel (1). He states "What caused the building to collapse is the airplane fuel ? burning at 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The steel in that five-floor area melts." Additionally, the newspaper that quotes him says "Just-released preliminary findings from a National Institute of Standards and Technology study of the World Trade Center collapse support Brown's theory."

We know that the steel components were certified to ASTM E119. The time temperature curves for this standard require the samples to be exposed to temperatures around 2000F for several hours. And as we all agree, the steel applied met those specifications. Additionally, I think we can all agree that even un-fireproofed steel will not melt until reaching red-hot temperatures of nearly 3000F (2). Why Dr. Brown would imply that 2000F would melt the high-grade steel used in those buildings makes no sense at all.

The results of your recently published metallurgical tests seem to clear things up (3), and support your team's August 2003 update as detailed by the Associated Press (4), in which you were ready to "rule out weak steel as a contributing factor in the collapse". The evaluation of paint deformation and spheroidization seem very straightforward, and you noted that the samples available were adequate for the investigation. Your comments suggest that the steel was probably exposed to temperatures of only about 500F (250C), which is what one might expect from a thermodynamic analysis of the situation.

However the summary of the new NIST report seems to ignore your findings, as it suggests that these low temperatures caused exposed bits of the building's steel core to "soften and buckle"(5). Additionally this summary states that the perimeter columns softened, yet your findings make clear that "most perimeter panels (157 of 160) saw no temperature above 250C". To soften steel for the purposes of forging, normally temperatures need to be above 1100C (6). However, this new summary report suggests that much lower temperatures were be able to not only soften the steel in a matter of minutes, but lead to rapid structural collapse.

This story just does not add up. If steel from those buildings did soften or melt, I'm sure we can all agree that this was certainly not due to jet fuel fires of any kind, let alone the briefly burning fires in those towers. That fact should be of great concern to all Americans. Alternatively, the contention that this steel did fail at temperatures around 250C suggests that the majority of deaths on 9/11 were due to a safety-related failure. That suggestion should be of great concern to my company. - Letter From Kevin R. Ryan Site Manager of the Environmental Health Laboratories South Bend, Indiana to 911Truth.org

Towers collapse shocks engineers

Posted on Tuesday, September 11

The World Trade Center was completed in 1976 at a cost of $350 million and one of the towers had survived a 1993 attack by terrorists in an explosives-filled van that killed six people and injured more than 1,000 others.

Lee Robertson, the project's structural engineer, addressed the problem of terrorism on high-rises at a conference in Frankfurt, Germany, last week, Chicago engineer Joseph Burns told the Chicago Tribune.

Burns said Robertson told the conference, "I designed it for a (Boeing) 707 to hit it." "Fire melts steel," Burns told the Tribune, speculating that the impact from the planes had damaged sprinkler systems in both towers. - source

The Aftermath - ground zero the Toxic zone

Lies:

NEW YORK, Dec. 24, 2002 - - Scientists say the thick layer of irritating dust that blanketed lower Manhattan after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks probably will not cause alarming increases in cancer, emphysema and other serious long-term health problems.

An analysis found that most of the potentially toxic dust particles collected in the week after the attacks were too large to lodge deep in people's lungs. Only 1 percent of the dust samples was composed of finer particles, researchers said.

In addition, the chemical composition of the dust appears less toxic than originally feared.

Scientists said the dust particles were large enough that people probably coughed them out of their upper airways. But the study did not directly test whether people had deeply inhaled any of the dust.

"In terms of potential lifetime exposures, we're probably going to be very lucky in that these may not be exposures of significant health risk," said Paul Lioy, one of the authors of the report. - CBS

Truth:

A veteran scientist at the federal Environmental Protection Agency is charging that her agency and the city Health Department are ignoring federal asbestos-abatement law in buildings around the World Trade Center disaster site.

In a scathing memo circulated last week within the agency, Cate Jenkins, a 22-year EPA employee, charged that top brass have "effectively waived" the EPA's "strict national regulations for removal and disposal of asbestos contaminated dust" by recommending that residents and commercial building managers in lower Manhattan follow the "extremely lenient (and arguably illegal) asbestos guidelines of the New York City Department of Health."

In her memo, a copy of which was obtained by the Daily News, Jenkins noted that the EPA's testing had identified at least 30 locations, some five to seven blocks from Ground Zero, where asbestos levels in dust samples were above the 1% "action level" cited in the federal Clean Air Act. "...more than 30,000 tonnes of potentially hazardous steel and other waste scrap from the site of the September 11th World Trade Center (WTC) disaster in New York has been unloaded in Chennai and stored in a site in Manali.[India]

What shocks us is that the scrap has reportedly been unloaded without proper certification as to its safety and non-hazardous character. We are informed that the first consignment of the scrap reportedly arrived in early January onboard the Maltese vessel Brozna. Two other ships, Shen Quan Hai and Pindos, have subsequently arrived with a cargo of scrap. Reports say that the latter two vessels are said to be carrying WTC scrap. Pindos is currently berthed in Chennai Port and is scheduled to sail on 7 February." - Amsterdamnet

Trading in Disaster: World Trade Center Scrap lands in India

Problems mount from 9/11 fallout

The number of people with medical problems linked to the 9/11 attacks on New York has risen to at least 15,000.

The figure, put together for the BBC, counts those receiving treatment for problems related to breathing in dust.

Many of the victims say the government offered false reassurances that the Manhattan air was safe and are now pursuing a class-action lawsuit.

On Tuesday, a coroner said the death of a policeman who developed a respiratory disease was "directly linked" to 9/11.

James Zadroga - who worked at Ground Zero - died in January. The New Jersey coroner's ruling was the first of its kind.

WTC 'cough'

Jeff Endean used to be the macho leader of a police Swat firearms team. Now, he has trouble breathing and survives on the cocktail of drugs he takes every day.

Kelly Colangelo, an IT specialist, used to have good health but now endures a range of problems including asthma and sinus pain. "It worried me that I've been damaging my health just being in my home," she told the BBC News website. "It also worries me that I see the health impact on the [the emergency crews at the scene]. We were also exposed and I wonder if in 10-15 years from now, am I going to be another victim?"

Both are victims of what used to be called "World Trade Center cough", an innocuous sounding condition that many thought would pass once the dust that rose from the attacks of 9/11 had blown away. But the medical problems have not merely intensified; the list of victims has grown alarmingly at the same time.

The apparent cause? The long line of contaminants carried by the dust into the lungs of many of those at, or near, the scene on that fateful day.

'Real' figure

One list of sufferers has been compiled at the Mount Sinai Medical Center. Its World Trade Center Screening Programme has 16,000 people on its books, of whom about half - 8,000 - require treatment. A further 7,000 firefighters are recorded as having a wide range of medical problems, producing a total of 15,000. But the overall numbers affected could easily be far higher. As the US government's newly appointed "health czar" John Howard confirmed to the BBC, there were between 30,000 and 50,000 people at or near Ground Zero who might have been exposed to the hazardous dust and no one really knows how many are suffering problems now.

Consisting of billions of microscopic particles, the dust was especially toxic because of its contents. A grim list includes lead from 50,000 computers, asbestos from the twin towers' structures and dangerously high levels of alkalinity from the concrete.

Long time

Many of the people now suffering were sent to Ground Zero to help search for survivors. Others volunteered. Still more just happened to be living or working in the area. The latter feel particularly aggrieved, even betrayed.

In the days following the attacks, the head of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) declared that monitoring operations had proved the "air was safe to breathe". And with that reassurance, the authorities reopened the globally important financial hub of Wall Street.

At the time it was seen as a critical morale-booster to a wounded nation. Yet now the federal courts have allowed a class-action lawsuit to be filed against those very authorities. Last month, a judge described the EPA's reassurances as "misleading" and "shocking the conscience". The legal process could last years.

BBC

Power corruption & LIES

Had WTC been built correctly, it should have burned out and not collapsed, causing smaller material damage and much fewer victims among almost 1000, who died under the zones of impact in and around the both towers. Because the retribution should be proportional to the injury, so exposing design flaws causing the WTC collapse would have weakened the argument for the retribution war in Iraq. Hiding design flaws blame for part of the injury, and keeping all blame on the attackers, implied more retribution, i.e. a stronger argument for the war. FEMA used very sophisticated technical tricks to avoid truth pointing to design flaws and corruption of the WTC capital project.

5 years after the attacks & body parts remain in contaminated building?

In this Sept. 26, 2001, photo, an aerial view shows the World Trade Center destruction in the aftermath of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in New York. The black tower, left, is the vacant 41-story former Deutsche Bank AG building, which remains contaminated with toxic waste and still holding tiny body parts more than four years after the trade center collapsed.

Contaminated tower looms over ground zero
Toxic waste, human remains, keep building's future in the balance

The Associated Press - May 24, 2006 NEW YORK - MSNBC

While debates rage about why more buildings have not gone up at the World Trade Center site, there is one, shrouded in a web of black netting and full of trade center dust, that can’t seem to come down.

The vacant 41-story former Deutsche Bank AG building looms above ground zero, contaminated with toxic waste and still holding tiny body parts more than four years after the trade center collapsed onto it on Sept. 11, 2001. Removing it from the landscape has become a more challenging task than cleaning up the twin towers.

“That’s more or less a vertical Superfund site, and we’re living right next to it,” said neighborhood resident Esther Regelson, referring to a federal program for cleaning up the nation’s most polluted industrial sites. She is concerned that taking down the building improperly will contaminate the area even more.

The eyesore presents different problems for a business district struggling to coax companies back to office space destroyed by terrorists. The first rebuilt skyscraper near ground zero, 7 World Trade Center, opened Tuesday with less than one-fifth of its space rented.

“Having it still there isn’t helping,” said Eric Deutch, president of the Alliance for Downtown New York.

Cleanup stalled

Development officials hope to bring down the building over the next year, making way for a new tower that could offer apartments or a hotel. But the cleanup that began last fall has stalled repeatedly as the Environmental Protection Agency and other regulators cited contractors for violations.

Construction workers, helped by the Fire Department, have another, wrenching task as they sift through debris. They have recovered more than 600 tiny bone fragments so far that had not been found in searches of the building shortly after the attacks.

Family groups and four U.S. senators have asked for more thorough sweeps of the area to search for other fragments.

Before the cleanup began, the 32-year-old building was embroiled in a legal battle between the company, insurers and the government over who was responsible for it. The tower lay untouched for months after the collapsing south tower tore into it, leaving a 15-story gash in its facade. The building became infested with mold caused by moisture from fire sprinklers and also contains asbestos, lead, mercury and toxic dust from the trade center. Deutsche Bank got into court battles with several insurers for payments to help take the building down. It also sued the city for more than $500 million in damages to the tower.

New tower planned

The Lower Manhattan Development Corp., the state agency overseeing rebuilding at ground zero, bought the tower for $90 million two years ago after “the private sector was unable to create a solution,” agency President Stefan Pryor said.

It took another year to begin the cleanup because the agency needed the EPA and others to approve one of the most complex demolition plans in the city’s history.

The LMDC hopes to begin dismantling the building from the top down next month. Once it is gone, in a year or so, officials plan to build the last of five proposed towers to replace the trade center there. Planners may develop it into an apartment complex or hotel.

The cleanup, which began in September, caused immediate controversy when several bone fragments were found on the building’s roof. In recent months, hundreds more were found. Family members of Sept. 11 victims, many of whom never recovered remains of their loved ones, were outraged.

Sen. Charles Schumer became the first of four senators to ask the Defense Department to send a specialized military unit — best known for finding the remains of missing soldiers in Vietnam — to search the area for more fragments. The Defense Department is open to sending the elite unit, Schumer said, and “we hope the city will allow them.”

At a state hearing on Thursday, Pryor and Deputy Mayor Daniel Doctoroff said the LMDC and city team are doing a thorough job searching and do not need help.

The EPA suspended the search for remains several times in recent weeks because of problems with the cleanup that included workers sifting for fragments in an asbestos-contaminated area and crews taking out debris that had not been thoroughly cleaned. The agency allowed contractors to resume removing debris on Tuesday.

Health worries

Regelson, who lives directly behind the Deutsche Bank building, said the tower “pretty much saved our lives” on Sept. 11 because it shielded her residence from the south tower’s collapse. But then her asthma worsened, and she developed an acid-reflux problem.

She worries now that taking down the building will spew more pollutants into the air. She is saddened by the discovery of human remains, but said the toxic dust inside the building is more harmful.

“The body parts aren’t going to kill me,” she said.

...other buildings have withstood equivalent or even worse fires. The FEMA/ASCE study describes a 1991 fire that started on the 22nd floor of the 38-story One Meridian Plaza Building in Philadelphia. It burned uncontrolled for 11 hours and "completely consumed" the contents of nine floors. In 1988, a fired burned for over 3 hours in the 62-story First Interstate Bank in Los Angeles. Neither of these buildings collapsed.

Why did the WTC buildings collapse when other steel-frame buildings - with even more severe fires - survived? The answer: asbestos. The survivor buildings used asbestos for fireproofing the structural steel, whereas the collapsed WTC buildings - both the Towers and a smaller building, WTC Seven - used asbestos substitutes in the levels that burned.

So why did the WTC builders stop using asbestos? While the north tower was under construction, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) banned the use of certain kinds of asbestos because of preliminary research findings that asbestos fibers breathed into the lungs caused a rare form of cancer (mesothelioma). Later, with the help of litigators, this ban essentially extended to include all forms of asbestos, including types very safe for humans but also damned because of their chemical relationship to the dangerous forms of asbestos [a form of chemical racism].

Unfortunately, the ban on asbestos resulted from junk science: studies that examined the relationships between exposure to asbestos and cancer, without adjusting for tobacco use. Non-smokers have only a minuscule risk of developing cancer. Further, asbestos coatings are harmless so long as they're left undisturbed. Finally, some forms of asbestos are completely harmless to humans.

But what gave this junk science its baleful power, and set the WTC on its journey to disaster, was a federal government ready and eager to regulate regardless of the facts - "junk regulation" - and of a predatory legal profession determined to turn a minuscule peril into a source of endless income. Lawyers rushed to file lawsuits against anyone and any company remotely connected with asbestos, forcing construction workers to stop using this time tested mineral as well as forcing more than 60 companies into bankruptcy. The Economist magazine estimated the cost of this litigation at $200 billion, not including the loss of lives and property in the World Trade Center disaster. source

High-rise Office Building Fire One Meridian Plaza Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (February 23, 1991)

12. The regulations governing fire-resistance ratings for high-rise structural components should be re-evaluated. The degree of structural damage produced during the fire at One Meridian Plaza suggests that the requirements for structural fire resistance should be reexamined. Floor assemblies deflected as much as three feet in some places. The fire burning on multiple floors may have produced simultaneous exposure of both sides of these assemblies, which consisted of concrete slabs on corrugated decks, supported by structural steel beam and girder construction, sprayed with cementitious fireproofing materials. The standard fire test for floor and ceiling assemblies involves exposure from a single side only.

Columns and certain other structural elements are normally exposed to fire from all sides. In this fire, the steel columns retained their structural integrity and held their loads. Experience in this and similar high-rise fires suggest that columns are the least vulnerable structural members, due to their mass and relatively short height between restraints (floor to floor). Major damage has occurred to horizontal members, without compromising the vertical supports.

Design flaws in WTC?

"...a new source came forward with information that in 1989 there was a plan being designed and priced to put up scaffolding, take the WTC towers down and rebuild them. The reason stated was not only asbestos related, but also because of a considerable design flaw in the WTC towers involving galvanic corrosion resulting from direct contact of dissimilar metals. In this instance, the heavy exterior aluminum panels were reportedly directly connected to the steel superstructure of the WTC towers. The price in 1989 was reportedly $5.6 billion to do this demolition and rebuilding to correct what would be a serious design flaw.

If that is the case, there would have been rapid and very damaging corrosion to the steel superstructure due to a process that is called galvanic corrosion. The Statute of Liberty had to be repaired for that same reason where the copper exterior had over time come into contact with the iron skeleton structure inside that makes the shape of the monument, so the process can occur in structures standing in air.

Evidently someone did not want to spend $5.6 billion (1989 dollars) to tear the WTC towers down and rebuild them properly, without the asbestos and without the defect that would rapidly deteriorate the superstructure of the building. - Pop goes the Bush mythology bubble Part 3: 9-11 served a multitude of purposes

Was the WTC destroyed because it was a liability?
Because it would cost too much to upgrade structural fire safety?

President Bush took big-donor insurance magnate Maurice "Hank" Greenberg along with him on his '92 trade mission to Asia. As a result of this "access," AIG got to sell more insurance in Japan and became the first foreign company allowed to sell insurance in China. Besides being a huge political funder, Greenberg is a major underwriter of the Heritage Foundation think tank - source

The recent news about AIG, Maurice Greenberg, his two sons and Warren Buffett indicates that the inside attacks of 9-11-1 are a huge accounting fraud - a mega-Enron - of the U.S. insurance industry. Initially, the insurance industry had to pay several billion $$ in damages. However, 9-11-1 has changed the landscape of insurance risk in such a way that premiums went into a steep hike, and today the U.S. insurance industry is the major beneficiary of 9-11-1 to the tune of over $13 billion increase (in 2004) for AIG alone (AIG alone thus achieved record revenues in 2004 of $100 billion according to preliminary figures).

The beneficiary of a crime is always a prime suspect of a crime. Here: the driving force behind the insurance industry. The Greenbergs, father and two sons, and Warren Buffett, their partner apparent in another Enron-size accounting fraud.

Eliot Spitzer's prosecution against Greenberg and AIG is an ersatz prosecution - a sham intended as a diversion. The idea behind this is that if Spitzer appear aggressive enough and the media convey this image convincingly, any true and meaningful reporting of AIG's and Greenberg's terroristic and treasonable felonies can be avoided.

In other words, Eliot Spitzer, a former partner of AIG's corporate lawfirm Skadden Arps, who some say is a crooked operation, is doing everything to save a major client of his former lawfirm.

Or in short: friends help friends. Eliot Spitzer has been provided with a Citizens' Complaint about the criminal aspects of 9-11-1, including numerous details about the specific and tangible insurance fraud involving Silverstein, Blackstone Group, Greenberg, Kissinger together with a research DVD full of data. Spitzer is stubbornly refusing to act on the evidence and is trying to take refuge to a mere mockery of prosecution. - Dr Stefan Grossman

Flashback to 2000 - global real estate investment

New York, NY October 17, 2000: Blackstone Real Estate Advisors, the global real estate investment and management arm of The Blackstone Group, L.P., announced today that it has purchased, from Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association, the participating mortgage secured by 7 World Trade Center, a commercial office complex controlled by real estate developer Larry Silverstein (source)

But before the building can rise further than the substation, major financing issues have to be resolved by Larry Silverstein, who controls the long-term lease on 7 World Trade Center as well as the World Trade Center complex. The good news for Mr. Silverstein is that the company that insured 7 World Trade, Industrial Risk Insurers, has indicated that it will make a full payment under its $861 million policy. But it's not clear whether Mr. Silverstein can use those proceeds to start building without first reaching an agreement with the mortgage holder on 7 World Trade Center, Blackstone Real Estate Advisors. FINANCIAL BONANZA BEHIND THE 9/11 TRAGEDY

Who are the financial actors behind the WTC?

by Michel Chossudovsky www.globalresearch.ca Spring 2004 - www.wanniski.com

On October 17, 2000, eleven months before 9/11, Blackstone Real Estate Advisors, of The Blackstone Group, L.P, purchased, from Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association, the participating mortgage secured by World Trade Center, Building 7.1

April 26, 2001 the Port Authority leased the WTC for 99 years to Silverstein Properties and Westfield America Inc. The transaction was authorized by Port Authority Chairman Lewis M. Eisenberg.

This transfer from the New York and New Jersey Port Authority was tantamount to the privatization of the WTC Complex. The official press release described it as "the richest real estate prize in New York City history". The retail space underneath the complex was leased to Westfield America Inc.2

On 24 July 2001, 6 weeks prior to 9/11 Silverstein took control of the lease of the WTC following the Port Authority decision on April 26.

Silverstein and Frank Lowy, CEO of Westefield Inc. took control of the 10.6 million-square-foot WTC complex. "Lowy leased the shopping concourse called the Mall at the WTC, which comprised about 427,000 square feet of retail space."3

Explicitly included in the agreement was that Silverstein and Westfield "were given the right to rebuild the structures if they were destroyed". 4

In this transaction, Silverstein signed a rental contract for the WTC over 99 years amounting to 3,2 billion dollars in installments to be made to the Port Authority: 800 million covered fees including a down payment of the order of 100 million dollars. Of this amount, Silverstein put in 14 million dollars of his own money. The annual payment on the lease was of the order of 115 million dollars.5

In the wake of the WTC attacks, Silverstein is suing for some $7.1 billion in insurance money, double the amount of the value of the 99 year lease.6

Silverstein Properties Inc. is a Manhattan-based real estate development and investment firm that owns, manages, and has developed more than 20 million square feet of office, residential and retail space.

Westfield America, Inc. is controlled by the Australian based Lowy family with major interests in shopping centres. The CEO of Westfield is Australian businessman Frank Lowy.

Jury rules Sept. 11 attacks were 2 events

NEW YORK -- A federal jury has decided that the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center was two occurrences for insurance purposes, meaning leaseholder Larry Silverstein stands to collect up to $4.6 billion.

The trial, which ended after 11 days of deliberations, was the first in which jurors were asked to decide whether the terrorist attack that killed 2,749 people could be considered two attacks since two planes hit two separate towers.

The verdict Monday in U.S. District Court in Manhattan was the latest twist in Silverstein's efforts to file separate claims for $7 billion, or two full payouts under the $3.5 billion worth of insurance coverage he took out on the trade center complex. source

The trade center was insured for a total of 3.5 billion dollars with a dozen insurance firms, including Allianz's Global Risks unit.

Madrid tower burns for days...

MADRID, Spain – Firefighters struggled for nearly 24 hours before finally controlling Madrid's worst blaze in recent memory, which reduced one of the city's tallest office buildings to a blackened hulk of twisted wreckage.

Thick smoke and temperatures that soared as high as 1,472 degrees Fahrenheit prevented firefighters from entering the 32-story Windsor building until late Sunday. The fire, which left seven people slightly injured, broke out Saturday just before midnight.

The office tower was heavily damaged but did not collapse, as had been feared. However, officials said it was unstable and closed the area around the building.

“What worries us now is its structural state because of the high temperatures it was subjected to,” said Merardo Tudelo, director of the Madrid Municipal Firefighters.

Mayor Alberto Ruiz Gallardon said “the situation is still critical.”

Emergency officials planned to keep the area in the Spanish capital's banking and business district cordoned off at least through today. Gallardon ordered nearby businesses to remain closed for the next few days. “This is the biggest fire … this city has ever had,” he said. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire, but the building was almost empty when the first alarm went off. - AP story

Fire rages in Taiwan skyscraper

Fire has raged through the upper floors of a Taiwanese skyscraper, killing three people before fire crews reportedly managed to put it out. Helicopters rescued nine people from the roof of the 25-storey Golden Plaza Tower in the centre of Taichung, the island's third city. The fire began at about 1600 (0800 GMT), apparently in a disco on the 18th floor, and spread quickly. People streamed out into the street, protecting their heads from glass.

Taiwanese television showed diners who had been eating in the revolving restaurant on the roof being lifted one by one to safety in helicopter rescue baskets as smoke swirled up around them. The tower houses offices, shops and tutorial schools, as well as the disco, which is not thought to have been operating at the time. The victims, who include a security guard working in the club, were all found on the 18th floor. None of three people injured was seriously hurt, Reuters news agency reports. The agency said fire crews took up to an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze. - BBC
