Deep thoughts about Shallow Hal

Capt Wardrobe Dec 2020

DISCLAIMER; this article is in no way intended to cause the
people mentioned any distress or offense -
i just used different examples to prove
a little tiny point that has been bugging me for nigh on 2 decades.

In the first book of Douglas Adams' amazing sci fi humour series The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, there is a really great metaphor for the philosophy gravy train.

Basically, fed up with lifes little niggling problems, like death and the afterlife and why everything is a bit tedious, a race of pan dimensional beings want to design a supercomputer to come up with the Ultimate answer - to life, the universe, and everything.

The designers get to work immediatly, and design a massive Artificial sentient super brain called Deep Thought

2 philosphers called Vroomfondle & Magikthise storm in from The Union of Philosophers and say something a bit like;

"Oi! You can't make a computer that just answers everything! We'll be out of a job"

Deep Thought tells the surrounding argument that he would solve such a vast problem, and will take billions years to make & run the program to it's conclusion.

And, as the philosophers kick up a stink...Deep Thought interjects, and advises wisely.

This respected guild of philosophers should not need to fret and worry over their livelyhoods, because while the Aeons of computation is slowly passing, there will be plenty of time for philosophers to make quite a bit of money & fame, wealth, and noteriety, enabling generations of the Guild to cut a deep furrow of continued respectability out of simply wondering what the final answer might possibly be...

Oooh think of the talk shows!

ooooh the book & movie deals!

The Guild representatives salivate at the propect of a new industry at hand. They walk away satisfied -

When, after seven and a half million years of calculation, the answer finally turns out to be 42, Deep Thought admonishes Loonquawl and Phouchg - the receivers of the Ultimate Answer, that he, Deep Thought "checked very thoroughly", and that "quite definitely is the answer."

"I think the problem," Deep Thought advises - "to be quite honest with you is that you've never actually known what the question was."

Deep Thought eventually makes the Supercomputer that will find the QUESTION TO THE ANSWER 42 - it is a computer so powerful that life itself forms the central matrix of its programming. It was to be called Deep Thought II.

I shan't go on - you need to read it to find out the rest.

Shallow Hal

The philosophers guild could be seen as a metaphor for the industry of political thought. The Deep Politics of deep politics. The mystery machine. Conspiracy Culture.

And 'Deep Thought' - the super computer coming up with all the answers, supplying the Guild with enough time, space & material to be a profitable exercise...could be seen as the Global Intelligence community...I will call them, in this capacity, Shallow Hal.

HAL, being a movie reference to the ever psychotic AI computer in Kubriks 1968 masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Guilds, Fraternity, & Theology, & cults often prey on vulnerable, gullible, fearful people, who cannot think for themselves but like being told they are clever if they sign up to the 'cause'...layers of truth are presented with higher fees charged for more knowledge hoped to discover. This is how both Scientology...& The Rosicrucians function.

Down the Rabbit hole!

is that Whitney Webb? on the left?

Many are not really going to be welcomed into their guild -

everything is to be compartmentalised into areas for furthering the mystery machine in a circular motion- it's a dynamo.

An ideological washing machine set on a spin cycle, on a constant production line, positioned in row by rows of video feeds as talking heads yap opinions, as every few years pass, yet another set of very strange things happen around us

and as inquisitive ears prick up, many a nose twitches, like a rabbit sensing an imminent sexual liason, & a new philosphers gold rush is born.

I make this assumption based on the notion of many writers & videographers charging premium subscriptions for their channels and articles of content.

We are told Selling product is normal and part of the game. Who owns the game?

Whitney Webbs latest book publisher choice is all about free speech

Mission Statement

TrineDay is a small publishing house that arose as a response to the consistent refusal of the corporate press to publish many interesting, well-researched and well-written books with but one key "defect": a challenge to official history that would tend to rock the boat of America's corporate "culture." TrineDay believes in our Constitution and our common right of Free Speech...

TrineDay Press

hmmm all sounds lovely doesn't it? well,

ROCKING THE BOAT OF CORPORATE CULTURE? if this true how the hell is it about to be sold on Amazon?

Doesn't this all seem a tad hypocritical?

Available on Amazon -

YEP that's TRILLIONAIRE JEFF BEZOS' AMAZON - the one who is raking it in from the lockdown

I bet Mossad are shaking in their boots

Gimme Indie rock!

Not to knock the writings of Whitney Webb...which i can totally agree is very competent & interesting.

But if you saw a cool band suddenly release an album on an indie label you know you can trust, has integrity...

A label that puts out amazing breakthrough content...only to see them on Sony as well later that year...you'd think that the band had totally sold out? wouldn't you?

Or would you, like many do...consider her writing more plausable if released on a mainstream outlet?

as an aside; anyone else noticing this? -
Amazon Mogul - Bezos has announced he's going into space

...with his brother...

probably to bum him...

Moving swiftly along;

James Corbett is a veteren producer of many a different article & video - with a wide range of topics & many would say, a well deserved massive following.

He also DOES NOT CHARGE FOR CONTENT.

This makes him A O.K BY ME. But none of that matters...

because I want to use a couple of his shows to make an observation.

an aside;

One hopes James, and others of his high & lofty standing would appreciate it.

Not that he would, such a well respected and intellectual powerhouse in his own right would never read or even deign to cower down to my gutter level to see such a lowly writer as me, down here in the shit! Rolling around in the mucky muck of independent privately hosted piracy on the open seas of the world wide interwebs. Here i am Sailing along toiling without bye or leave - Looking out of my crows nest with my telescope to my one poor lone, ever scrutinising dimming eye...Riding along up & down up & down, with the wind in my greying hair - YES! HAIR James!...ahaaar ahaaaaar ahoy there!...

sorry, enough of that analogy - got carried away.

back to the story

Sorry about that.

Recently Mr Corbett made several videos concerned with the preservation of knowledge in a increasingly censored world. He followed this up with another, the subject of which was the preservation of physical media. And while the various points he puts across are extremely valid -

Should we really be scared 'everythings going digital'? i think YES! - but, that we need back it all up on, oh let's say, a digital storage medium or device...While data loss & censorship are certainly a cause for concern, unfortunately, i couldn't help notice that, if an annoying pop up advert suddenly appeared for Data discs or USB flash drives in this particular part of the video - it would seem appropriate product placement!

Interestingly, never to miss an opportunity, after talking about all the dangers of censorship and the prescient need for hard copies of everything - he then holds up his self produced video about Bill Gates priced for $$$'s - it's a hard SELL!

Hey! Just an observation...watch the video [left] and judge for yourself.

I think it was limited amount on sale, so let's not be too hard on the fellow!

On the other hand; to be fair

It must be recognised that in the context of Society in Lockdown

Offering people a book version of your output can be seen as a perfect way of fighting back against the system...getting people away from their screens for a few hours and burying their heads in a decent book is a noble intent. So - i recognise the difficulty of producing & disseminating information & ideas.

Physical Books in sacred library spaces are being murdered - it is an absolutely nightmare...A disgrace to see the digitisation of knowledge being led by people who have a history of censorship.

It must not be forgotten - that - successful writers are chosen and enabled by patreons who own publishers that make books possible

That system seems to never change.

And i believe it is this system of patronage which these guilds seem to be protecting.

The systems of control are already in place. They are tried and tested - The owners of these systems, the producers of the silent weapons used for quiet wars, are just moving the game to further include 'humans' as a 'commodity' to be brokered in much the same way as traditional Empires used slaves as resources - it's the same system on a different medium simply utilising newer technology.

Reverse engineering such systems is paramount.

Please make your own 'Art', write own your poetry & make and write music...learn & play an instrument. Act in silly productions. Make your own websites - join the dots for yourself - write a diary. make it YOURS for your children. Host yourself. Dump the spying social media platforms.

It is true independence.

The ANSWER? TO LIFE, THE UNIVERSE & EVERYTHING? 42?

ASCII 42

In programming, an asterisk is commonly used as a sort of "whatever you want it to be" symbol, called a wildcard.

ASCII language, the original way that computers run, the most basic computer software, in it, 42 is the designation for asterisk.

The GIANT COMPUTER was asked what the true meaning was. It answered as a computer would.

Anything you want it to be.
