So what happened to the innovaters?

for so long we have heard that an artist is 'under-rated'

I would go further

Many 'fringe' acts have been taken out the loop because they are INNOVATERS. They INVENT...They supply the ideas which are basically nicked, polished and represented as an original idea... INNOVATERS are kept poor, relatively un-noticed, never acknowledged.

A classic case is Groovy Movies.

Never heard of them?

well if i mention...That Prezzie Show (LWT) - a latenight series about tacky gift ideas. This was a Groovy Movies project.

Now if i say the words 'The Adam & Joe show'? Ring a bell?

for many, they will know that this was another anarchic show...with two whacky presenters doing lo fi animation piss takes of movies and slots devoted to high strangness & alt Comedy...This was screened on Channel 4. Not many people know that Groovy Movies actually made this program as a pilot called 'Yeti & Mister Bunny Show' and sent it to Channel 4. Yeti & Mr Bunny [Groovey Movies main bods] were the original presenters.

Channel 4 literally stole the entire format and repackaged it with two University graduates who had contacts, in media , er... actually let's try 'family' - nepotism is rife in this game

Groovy Movies were never paid a single penny...this is what they have to say about it all...

Adam & Jo Show

(Please do not judge Yeti and Mister Bunny by this as it was their early work). Unknowingly, Yeti and Mister Bunny were consultant creative advisors for format and content, including the general presenting style, the inane wearing of names on t-shirts, the term and concept of 'punk comedy' and the idea of superimposing human mouths over toy characters. You see, Yeti and Mister Bunny had been told that their ideas would be used for their own series but they were dropped when Adam and Jo agreed to work for less. The 'Yeti and Mister Bunny Show' was shown to Adam.

World of Wonder "Absolutely brilliant"

The Adam and Jo Show was based on the early 'Yeti & Mister Bunny Show' pilot video.

The producers (World of Wonder) asked Yeti what he called his new brand of humour. Off the cuff he said 'punk comedy.' Several years later, Adam and Jo were asked the same question on a radio broadcast (no prizes for guessing their answer!)

so why haven't more been offered the chance to make great new programmes...or an album/DVD releases for 'record labels'? where is all the talent???

because...and this is exactly the same as 'professional football'...

Certain artists haven't been 'allowed access' - without a stifling compromise of integrity

An entire realm is turned into a form of 'managed' competition...winners & losers via leagues [style based charts - The celebrity behavior index]

Sometimes star players are bought and put on the sidelines to take them OUT OF THE GAME

This makes it easier for those in control to look like they are WINNING via a massive corporate Public Relations machine

This guarantees their continued control

That is the REAL aim of 'the game'

THE CONTROL OF INNOVATION IS THE CONTROL OF CULTURE

and it happend to many brilliant bands i saw in London when my partner and I were gigging [allbeit badly!]

great innovative bands 'constituent parts' were pilfered of their line ups and reconstituted as pop indie shite fodder for the consumer market

The industrial elites... via bribery and collusion, control alternative culture by guaranteeing limited success to those who have 'family' connections to the 'music industry'...and to those who keep their gobs shut

A perfect example of this is the pirate radio scene, which became the pinnacle of street culture in the early nineties...only to be totally diluted into the shite we hear today as Kiss FM and X-Fm. These stations now pour out a tosh of corny sounding DJ's and industry approved set lists...with Mc D's, KFC's and Coke adverts...in a non-stop shitefest of what can only be described as pollution

control of 'access' and a fake free-market masked as 'aspiration culture' fucked up the scene...

now ...do you want to go to Ibiza...?

Without people like William Burroughs...Scientist, The Mad Proffessor, The Ramones, Public Enemy, The Fall, The Pistols, The Specials, On-U-sound, KLF, The Orb, The The, Butthole Surfers, Nirvana... etc etc - I wouldn't be doing my art and music the way i do it now -

Culture is a meme, a spread virus which is being homogenised by greed freaks

and there is less and less of an outlet because the attack dogs of these greedy fuckers, the ones who are charged with 'protecting' the 'national interest', which include protecting a national industry that makes shitloads of money out of entertainment as consumer slavery, are the very authorities[intell & police & councils] that deem it illegal to gather and make a bit of a noise in a field in the middle of fucking nowhere...FOR FREE...

think about it...they could throw together a free festival back in the 70's - and people gathered from miles around...now take a look at the options....Glastonbury and V, with iD cards and fences? Fuck that shit!

an idea for future music development

below is a rough diagram outlining the potential for development of cultural output

We need to see the total dislocation of the Corporate Music industry from the current slavery process into one which is more alligned to a symbiosis of artists/musicians & the makers of instrument / technology [craftspeople] to drive a further experimental journey into uncharted cultural space, and encourage others not to be docile consumers & 'experiencers', but to be participants in a learning growing endevour for creative possibility..

Imagine an orchestra wherby all the individual instruments have been tailored to a specific musical piece...or a band whose individual sound has been further drawn from their joint designing of new weird and wonderful instrumants and fx tools to play with...
